Solazyme Names New Senior Vice President of Process Development and Manufacturing
Jurgen Dominik Brings 30 Years of R&D and Manufacturing Experience to Growing Bioscience Company
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Solazyme, a synthetic biology company pioneering the sustainable production of biofuels, industrial oleochemicals, and health/wellness ingredients from marine microbes, announced that it has named Jurgen Dominik to the position of senior vice president of process development and manufacturing.
Dominik has more than 30 years of experience in technology, manufacturing, research and development, and international management. Prior to joining Solazyme, he was senior vice president of global operations with CP Kelco, a J.M. Huber Corporation company, where his responsibilities included manufacturing, logistics, capital spending, and process research and development. Dominik's association with the Kelco Company began in 1970 as a research engineer when xanthan gum was an embryonic new product. Over the years, he was instrumental in developing high-volume, low-cost fermentation products produced by microorganisms including algae into global businesses. During his career he held a variety of positions within Kelco, a division of Merck and Company, Inc., including director of process R&D, director of manufacturing, managing director of international as well as senior vice president of NutraSweet Kelco, a division of Monsanto, Inc.
